Admission Events

The Office of Admission offers appointments for prospective applicants and family members who would like to meet individually with an admission counselor to identify best-fit programs and discuss the admission process. To schedule an appointment, email [email protected]. 

Application Preparation Workshops offer tools to prospective undergraduate students planning to apply to a New School program. The workshops cover all aspects of the application process, including audition and portfolio preparation, writing a strong statement of purpose and/or essay, and gathering and submitting supplemental materials.

Audition events are held in New York City and selected locations around the world for applicants to undergraduate and graduate programs at the College of Performing Arts.

Student-led campus tours introduce visitors to our academic facilities. Student housing is not included. Only those with appointments will be able to tour campus. Please register for the tour most appropriate for your interests:

• Undergraduate Programs Tours—These 90-minute student-led campus tours introduce visitors to the undergraduate academic facilities at Parsons School of Design, Eugene Lang College of Liberal Arts, and/or the College of Performing Arts. These tours provide a general, broad overview of campus facilities frequented by undergraduate students at The New School. Those seeking a more focused introduction to a particular area of study are encouraged to register for a school-specific tour. 
• Graduate Programs Campus Tours—These 60-minute student-led campus tours introduce visitors to the graduate academic facilities at Parsons School of Design, the College of Performing Arts, and/or The New School for Social Research. These tours provide a general, broad overview of campus buildings used by graduate students at The New School. Those seeking a more focused introduction to a particular area of study are encouraged to connect directly with program chairs or faculty. 
• College of Performing Arts Undergraduate Programs Campus Tours—These 60-minute student-led campus tours introduce visitors to the undergraduate academic facilities at the College of Performing Arts. Those seeking a broader, more general overview of undergraduate study at The New School, including study at Eugene Lang College of Liberal Arts and/or Parsons School of Design, are encouraged to register for an Undergraduate Programs tour. 

We limit registrants to one guest to provide the best overall experience for visitors and accommodate the maximum number of prospective students on our tours. Many of our facilities, including elevators and hallways, cannot accommodate large groups. If not fully booked, we may allow more than one guest to join a tour at the guide's discretion. We appreciate your understanding.

These events are open fairs for graduates, undergraduates, and/or transfer students, at which Admission representatives staff a table on behalf of The New School. They serve as an initial point of contact between students and colleges without the need for students to travel to visit the college itself, allowing them to interact with admission representatives from a wide range of post-secondary institutions.

Information Sessions are 45- to 60-minute in-person presentations by Admission staff and/or faculty designed for students interested in applying for admission.

Virtual Discover Day 

What to Expect

Our virtual Discover Day is a live guided experience designed to introduce you to The New School and help you explore and decide whether it's the right fit for you. We encourage you to join us for the entire program to get the most out of the experience.

During the event, you will:

• Learn about The New School's academic philosophy, undergraduate colleges, and application process
• Hear directly from current students about their experiences in and outside the classroom
• Participate in a live breakout session tailored to your interests with Parsons, Performing Arts, or Eugene Lang College of Liberal Arts
• Learn how Student Success and Engagement supports students throughout their New School journey
• Explore opportunities such as undergraduate minors and dual-degree programs
• Attend a live financial aid presentation and ask questions
• Receive information about next steps in the admission process and opportunities to stay connected

Because many sessions feature live presenters and student panels, we encourage participants to attend from the beginning of the program through its conclusion for the fullest experience. 

On-Campus Discover Day

What to Expect

Our on-campus Discover Day is a carefully planned program that introduces you to The New School through presentations, conversations, and campus experiences. We encourage you to plan to spend the day with us from beginning to end, so that you can take advantage of everything the program has to offer.

During the day, you will:

• Learn about The New School's academic philosophy, undergraduate colleges, and application process
• Hear from current students about academics, campus life, and their New School experience
• Attend an academic breakout session focused on your area of interest
• Learn about student support services and the many resources available to help students thrive
• Enjoy a complimentary lunch while connecting with other prospective students and families
• Take a guided campus tour led by our student ambassadors
• Meet with admission staff, financial aid representatives, and current students to get your questions answered
• Explore optional opportunities available at the conclusion of the program, including residence hall tours and admission appointments

To ensure the best possible experience, we have. attendees participate in scheduled sessions and rotate through activities together throughout the day rather than moving independently between presentations. We encourage you to remain for the full program, so that you don't miss any part of the Discover Day experience.
