  • Curriculum Notice: Faculty in Global Studies are engaging in a comprehensive redesign of this curriculum. Students who began their studies at Lang before the fall 2026 semester can continue in or add this major. Students who begin their studies at Lang in fall 2026 or after will still be able to take courses in this subject area and can pursue it through minors, electives, or broader Liberal Arts study.     BA Global Studies Requirements for Students Who Began Their Studies at Lang Before the Fall 2026 Semester

    Only specific courses satisfy the major requirements, including electives. Lang students can learn more and track their progress on the Detailed Degree Requirements and Global Studies Requirements Worksheet below. Courses should be chosen carefully, in consultation with the departmental faculty advisor and the Student Success academic advisor. 

    Students in the Bachelor's Program for Adults and Transfer Students (Adult Bachelor’s Program) who are interested in this subject should consult their core faculty advisor.

    Introductory courses:

    • UGLB 2110 (Dis)Order and (In)Justice (3 credits)
    • UGLB 2111 Global Economies (3 credits)

    Other required courses:

    • 2 Knowledge Base electives (6–8 credits)
    • 5 Global Challenge electives. Three must be within a single cluster and three must be at the 3000 level or higher. (15–20 credits)
    • 4 foreign language courses or proficiency exam. Note: Not all levels of foreign languages are offered each term. (0–16 credits)
    • Collaborative Research Seminar requirement (3–4 credits)
    • Experiential requirement: UGLB 3903 Global Engagement Colloquium (2 credits)  

    Senior Capstone:

    • UGLB 4710 Senior Capstone Research Seminar (variable-credit two-semester sequence)

    Total credits: 33–60
