  • The MA Fashion Studies at Parsons Paris is the first and only master's program in this field in France, and one of a small handful worldwide combining theory and practice. In this program, you investigate fashion as a cultural phenomenon and realize projects with cultural and creative industry partners, employing a critical perspective on fashion globalization, labor, and sustainability; media and visual communication; fashion curating and heritage; identity, race, class, and gender; and technological innovation. Graduates work in diverse fields including the fashion industry, branding and media, museums, and academia.

    • Rethink Fashion Systems

      Bridge the gap between academia and industry to rethink fashion systems by engaging with fashion scholars and creating exhibitions, publications, and campaigns with art directors, photographers, critics, curators.

    • Print and Digital Media

      Develop a critical understanding of historical and contemporary fashion media, exploring the practice and evolution of journalistic writing across both print and digital formats.

    • Identity Politics, Social Justice, Sustainability

      Learn how the field of fashion is evolving in response to calls for inclusivity, care for the environment, activism, and equity in race, gender, and class.

    • Critical Branding and Visual Communication

      Work directly with leading brands to pitch, produce, and present your own campaigns, using your unique visual vocabulary to create innovative branding strategies.

       

    • Parisian Perspectives

      Collaborate with Paris-based cultural institutions and fashion brands, investigating the fashion systems, geographies, and actors that make up this unique landscape.

    • Fashion Heritage and Curation

      Explore the memory of fashion and its role in national identities by producing exhibitions and accessing major collections such as those of Galliera Musée de la Mode de Paris, MAD Paris, and Azzedine Alaïa Foundation.

    The curriculum consists of seminar-based classes, lectures, and master classes led by fashion academics and practitioners. Students also develop projects like exhibitions, installations, and publications in collaboration with European cultural institutions and Parisian fashion brands.

  • MA Fashion Studies faculty include scholars, fashion critics, art directors, image-makers, brand consultants, and curators. They embody a broad range of expertise in the fields of fashion media, fashion history and curating, fashion and politics, sustainability, labor, law, and intellectual property.

  • Career Paths

    Graduates of this program are polyvalent researchers and professionals who are able to adapt to the dynamic fashion industry. Alumni pursue roles in fashion PR and publications, branding and marketing, fashion consulting, museums and galleries, private archives, auction houses, trend forecasting, and fashion retailing. Some also pursue PhD degrees and research and teaching positions at universities around the world.
