• About

  • The Julien J. Studley Graduate Programs in International Affairs opened its doors to students one week before the events of September 11, 2001. The program offered four courses in its first semester: Global Flows, Culture and Media in International Affairs, Comparative Development Experience, and the Practitioners Workshop. Many of the students in the inaugural cohort were international students and recent arrivals in New York City.

The attacks on September 11 were a rude awakening, and came to represent the intrusion of international affairs into the daily lives of New Yorkers. From that day forward, our students became active participants in shaping our lectures and seminars. Our faculty and students continue to work together to define and explain the new realities of the 21st century, which requires a new approach to mobility and migration, the global economy, politics and culture, and relations between the Global South and the Global North.
