Flu season occurs during the fall and winter months. We strongly encourage you to get your flu shot as soon as possible. Getting vaccinated is one of the most effective ways to prevent the spread of the flu, and it is especially important this year, as the COVID-19 pandemic is continuing and flu season is expected to begin earlier and be more severe this year.
Student Health Services is holding flu vaccine clinics on October 25 and 27 and November 1, 3, and 15 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. To schedule an appointment for a free flu vaccine, log in to the SHS Portal and schedule a medical appointment for “Flu Vaccine Clinic” or call 212.229.1671, option 2. All flu vaccine clinics will be located at Student Health Services, 80 Fifth Avenue, 3rd floor.
Below are some more resources to help you find a local vaccination site and schedule a vaccine appointment. Flu shots are free with most insurance plans and are safe to receive anytime after you’ve completed your COVID-19 vaccine series. To find a vaccination site near the New School campus, search for locations in the 10011 zip code.
For more information about other preventive steps you can take to reduce your risk of getting sick and spreading the flu, visit the CDC’s flu prevention page or watch this short CDC video.
Please stay home or in your residence hall room if you don’t feel well. If you need to see a medical provider, you can schedule a telehealth medical appointment through the SHS Portal or go to an urgent care center such as CityMD if appointments are not available.
