Recent Updates: The New School has released its academic plan for 2020-21 and a phased reopening plan for its New York campus. Please check the Parsons Paris website for information about our Paris campus. Learn more.

  • The New School offers a student health insurance plan to all degree (including online-only), visiting, mobility (study abroad), maintenance-of-status, Lang and Parsons consortium, ESL + certificate, graduate credit certificate, and graduate and undergraduate degree non-matriculating students. Students enrolling through Open Campus are not eligible and are not charged for student health insurance.

The Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP) is an integral part of the university's efforts to promote the well-being of our students. Students who wish to enroll in the SHIP for spring 2021 must do so before February 1, 2021. For spring 2021, students who have a health insurance plan that covers them in their place of study may request a waiver. If you do not either enroll or request a waiver by the deadline, you will be automatically enrolled after February 1, 2021. Once you are enrolled, your student account will be charged the premium.

The university has listened carefully to your feedback and will no longer require international students to have U.S.-based, ACA-compliant insurance in order to waive the SHIP. U.S.-based plans are ACA-compliant, and students with U.S.-based plans will also be able to waive the SHIP. Starting in fall 2021, you and your family will be able to decide what type of coverage is best for you. The SHIP will still be available, and staff can help you compare your options and choose a plan that will meet your needs.
