The College of Performing of Arts at The New School offers a five-year integrated Bachelor’s-Master’s program that enables students to finish their undergraduate degree at one of the schools — Drama, Jazz and Contemporary Music, or Mannes — and also complete a master’s degree in Arts Management and Entrepreneurship.
Sophomores have the option of applying to the MA in Arts Management and Entrepreneurship program, adding a fifth year and graduating with both undergraduate and graduate degrees. This MA program is exclusively for performing artists who want to continue developing their artistic practice while acquiring skills in areas like creative production, community engagement, finance, fundraising, management, and entrepreneurship.
Students interested in pursuing the dual-degree option should speak with their Student Success advisor. Questions related to the MA program and curriculum should be sent to [email protected].
Applications are accepted from rising sophomores in the Bachelor of Music program at Mannes School of Music, the Bachelor of Fine Arts program at the School of Jazz and Contemporary Music, and the Bachelor of Fine Arts program at the School of Drama. Applicants must demonstrate skill and ability in the performing arts and entrepreneurial vision. Students will work closely with an advisor to complete requirements for both degree programs by the end of their fifth year.
How to Apply
Students interested in the integrated Bachelor’s-Master’s program apply during the fall of their sophomore year. Students admitted to the program begin taking graduate courses in the MA program that complement their undergraduate studies during their junior and senior years. They complete the graduate degree in the fifth year. Both the bachelor’s degree and the master’s degree are conferred at the end of the fifth year.
Please note that there is a special application process for undergraduates at the College of Performing Arts. Prospective students should email [email protected] for instructions for applying.
