Rafi Youatt is Associate Professor of Global Politics He is the author of Counting Species: Biodiversity in Global Environmental Politics (University of Minnesota Press, 2015) and Interspecies Politics: Nature, Borders, States (University of Michigan Press, 2020). He has also written numerous journal articles on international relations, anthropocentrism, ecology, and mobility. Recent courses include Planetary Politics; Interpretive Methods; Empires, Nations, Borderlands; and War in the 20th Century. He is currently associate editor of the Journal of International Relations and Development and co-coordinates the Global Politics Workshop at NSSR. His current research project studies the relationship of terrain and collective political violence, in a series of imperial borderlands.
