Our top priority will continue to be the health and safety of our community.
All students, faculty, and staff must be up-to-date with their vaccinations, including a booster dose as soon as they are eligible (with the exception of those who receive approved medical or religious exemptions). You must either be boosted or have received an exemption from The New School to comply with the university’s vaccination policy. This policy covers all individuals who intend to be on our New York City campus for any period of time.
The university strongly recommends everyone to get the updated bivalent booster as soon as you are eligible. Updated COVID boosters from Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna received emergency use authorizations (EUAs) from the FDA in August. These bivalent boosters will help maximize protection, prolong the vaccine’s durability, and safeguard our communities against the virus. Please upload your updated proof of vaccination to the SHS Portal.
If you have questions, please email [email protected] or [email protected].
Students
Students are required to submit their vaccine record to the Student Health Services (SHS) portal by following these instructions. Those not yet eligible or unable to access a booster in their home country must receive a booster within 14 days of becoming eligible or gaining access to a booster shot. Students with approved medical or religious exemptions are exempt from this requirement.
We strongly encourage international students who have access to vaccines approved in their home countries to get vaccinated as quickly as they can. Following CDC guidance, vaccines authorized by the FDA or for emergency use by WHO will be accepted by The New School.
Please do not email your vaccine documentation to Student Health Services. If you previously emailed your vaccine record to SHS, it will not be processed. It will only be reviewed and processed once you have uploaded it to the portal.
If you have questions, please email [email protected].
Exemptions
Continuing students (except for those returning from leave) who wish to request an exemption to the vaccine requirement for medical or religious reasons must
submit their documentation to SHS by following these instructions.
International students and domestic students from abroad who are not able to be fully vaccinated before returning to campus for reasons beyond their control will be accommodated. Students not yet eligible or unable to access a booster in their home country must receive a booster within 14 days of becoming eligible or gaining access to a booster shot. You will be required to follow the protocol outlined in the
COVID-19 Vaccine Submission FAQ in order to access campus facilities.
