• The New School continually strives to be a highly inclusive and welcoming environment where our strength lies in the diversity of identities and voices in our community. This work takes focus, examination, robust participation, and shared commitment.

In the fall of 2018, we launched a campus climate assessment to help us understand more about the experiences, needs, hopes, and values of our students, faculty and staff. Guided by a broad-based Task Force, that assessment was intended to serve as a baseline for a data-driven cycle of learning, implementation, feedback, progress, and continued innovation. You can read more about the complete reports on this site.

The true work now begins: to take what we have learned and use that to guide action. The Task Force has produced a set of recommendations for ways we can focus and prioritize our efforts. The next phase of the work will be to invite the university community to engage in discussions and provide input. Your voices and participation will be critical.

The work to be an inclusive university community is the responsibility of everyone in our community. We are grateful for the ongoing engagement of New School students, staff, faculty, and Trustees as we collectively strive to reflect our shared values.
