• Politics (Minor)

  • Overview

The Politics minor is offered through Eugene Lang College of Liberal Arts.

The study of politics introduces students to critical and constructive engagement with their communities and the world. They explore authority, cooperation, deliberation, persuasion, resistance, rebellion, and other manifestations of power in diverse social, political, and economic contexts. Learn more about the Politics program.

    Curriculum

The minor in Politics requires the completion of 18–20 credits, distributed as follows:

    • Two 2000-level introductory courses (total 6–8 credits). One intro requirement can be fulfilled with a ULEC or First Year Seminar taught by a Politics professor.
    • Three 3000- or 4000-level elective courses (total 12 credits). Students can take any three LPOL classes at these levels. Students must complete two core classes or attain junior or senior status to enroll.

    Total credits: 18–20

Courses should be chosen carefully, in consultation with the Departmental Faculty Advisor. To see a general list of fall 2024 Politics courses, visit the University Course Catalog. For updated course listings that meet the requirements above, email [email protected]. Students must receive grades of C or better in all courses taken to fulfill the minor.
