    Yvette Chaparro

    Profile

    Yvette Chaparro is an Associate Professor of Product and Industrial Design in the School of Constructed Environments.

    She is an educator, researcher, and industrial designer. Her studio’s clients include Restoration Hardware, Ammara Designs, Villeroy & Boch, Kate Spade, Prym Consumer, West Elm, Ralph Lauren, and others. She also served as brand leader for Calvin Klein, Tommy Hilfiger, and other brands while working for Global Brands Group and Springs Global.

    Yvette has served as the director of the MFA Industrial Design programme (2020-2024) and is currently the interim director (2026-2027). She has been teaching product and industrial design at Parsons since 2015 and has also taught at the Academy of Art University.

    As a researcher, she focuses on design pedagogy, interdisciplinary collaboration, terminology in design, modularity in families of objects, and typology. She has collaborated with Michele Gorman (Interior Design) and Preeti Gopinath (Textiles) in A Decolonized & Decarbonized Dinner Party since 2022 (https://event.newschool.edu/dddinerparty2026).
