  • Develop the skills you need to thrive as an artist, adding to your talents as a musician, composer, actor, director, playwright, or multidisciplinary artist. The Master’s in Arts Management and Entrepreneurship enables you to deepen your abilities as a performer while gaining knowledge and skills that prepare you for a diverse range of career options in performing arts management, arts administration, entrepreneurship, arts education, cultural policy and advocacy, and arts philanthropy.

    Career-Relevant Curriculum

    The curriculum and courses of the Arts Management and Entrepreneurship MA are tailored specifically to advance the careers of practicing performing artists. You are not just encouraged but required to maintain your artistic practice while you are developing your enterprise skills and knowledge. To facilitate this, you have the opportunity to take courses, pitch projects, and potentially perform with students and faculty from the Mannes, Jazz, and Drama schools in our College of Performing Arts. You can also receive credit for artistic work done outside of the university, like playing gigs with a band.

    Integrated Bachelor's-Master's Program

    An integrated bachelor's-master's dual degree is also available, which enables you to complete an undergraduate degree in music or theater at The New School as well as your master's in Arts Management and Entrepreneurship in a total of five years.
