New Partnered Project On Governors Island

Meet four new fellows and the director of the Ripe for Creative Disruption Environmental Justice Movement Fellowship, created by the university’s Tishman Environment and Design Center (TEDC) to unlock innovation and community-led, justice-driven climate solutions worldwide.

A two-year partnership between Parsons and the Trust for Governors Island led to the creation of a multipurpose structure for environmental education and a public pavilion employing repurposed and sustainable materials, both now in use on the island. 

The USL is a New School–based interdisciplinary research, design, and practice space where faculty, students, and partners collaboratively develop groundbreaking approaches to making cities more equitable and resilient, especially for those most vulnerable to social and climate-driven inequalities.

Our commitment to collaborative, non-extractive partnerships extends back for decades and includes one launched with the UN and a Guyanese furniture company in 2000.
